Your Vote. Your Voice. 2026

We believe housing is a human right and that the people most impacted by what’s happening in our neighborhoods deserve access to information, tools, and opportunities to shape what comes next.

Across the country and here in Long Beach, decisions about elections, voting rights, housing policy, development, public investment, and renter protections are deeply connected. The people elected to office help determine what resources communities receive, what protections renters have, and whose voices are prioritized in the future of our city.

Right now, many Black residents are experiencing the impacts of rising rents, displacement, gentrification, and economic pressure while also navigating growing concerns about attacks on voting rights nationally. Understanding how these systems connect is an important part of building community power.

Our May 2026 Black Neighborhood Tenant Council meeting focuses on elections, voter rights, and what’s happening nationally and locally that impacts Black communities and renters. To help continue the conversation beyond the meeting, below you can find presentation slides and a voter rights guide just for you:

Check out the materials, share them with neighbors and loved ones, and stay engaged. An informed community is a stronger community.

Our Black Neighborhood Tenant Council is a project rooted in connection, education, organizing, and collective action for Black residents in Long Beach. One love!
