Demand Stronger Renter Protections in Long Beach

Long Beach would not be Long Beach without its renters. Nearly 60% of residents rent their homes, and Black renters face some of the greatest barriers to housing stability. Sign this letter urging City Council to strengthen Just Cause eviction protections.

Black renters are the most housing cost-burdened renter group in Long Beach, with 64% paying more than they can sustainably afford toward housing. Weak eviction protections make Black tenants more vulnerable to displacement from our neighborhoods, schools, jobs, caregiving networks, and cultural communities.

Join our call on the City to:

  • Strengthen protections against unjust evictions

  • Eliminate “substantial remodel” as grounds for eviction

  • Create a two-month nonpayment threshold

  • Protect tenants from day one

  • Match LA County relocation assistance standards
