Vote Down the Ballot: Join Us for the BNTC Ballot Party, Tues. 10/27

Bring your ballot, bring your questions, and learn how to vote all the way down the ballot with us.

Join us on Tuesday, October 27 for the BLM Black Neighborhood Tenant Council (BNTC) Ballot Party, in partnership with LAANE, Long Beach for a Just Economy, and We Are California.

Elections are about more than the races at the top of the ballot. Statewide propositions and other down-ballot decisions can have an impact on our neighborhoods, families, workers, renters, public resources, and communities.

That’s why we’re creating a welcoming space where we can learn together, ask questions, and help one another feel more confident voting all the way down the ballot.

Let’s Break Down the Propositions

During the Ballot Party, we’ll take a deeper look at key California propositions and break them down in plain language.

Together, we’ll explore questions like:

  • What would a YES vote actually do?

  • What would a NO vote mean?

  • Who benefits?

  • Who pays?

  • Who holds power?

  • What changes if the measure passes?

  • What happens if it doesn’t?

  • Who is funding the campaigns for and against the measure?

  • How might the issue connect to Black communities, renters, workers, families, and neighborhoods?

Our goal is not to tell anyone how to vote. We want our community to have more information, better questions, and useful tools to make their own informed decisions.

Explore Our Black California Voter Guide

To help you prepare, we created an interactive Black California Voter Guide that makes it easier to explore the statewide propositions before Election Day.

The guide includes plain-language information about the measures, what YES and NO votes mean, campaign arguments and financing, voting resources, and questions that encourage us to think about these issues through a Black community lens.

It is designed for voter education, not to tell you how to vote.

Bring your questions from the guide with you. We’ll have time during the meeting to talk through the ballot together.
