Help Us Reach Our Goal for Long Beach Gives 2025
Help us reach our $1,000 fundraising goal for the 2025 Long Beach Gives!
At Black Lives Matter Grassroots 🌿Long Beach, we believe in the brilliance and resilience of our community. We know that when people come together to care for community, we can create a city where every family and every person has what they need to live, grow, and thrive. Housing, wellness, safety, and education aren’t privileges — they’re our shared birthright.
But too often, these rights are out of reach. Families are forced to make impossible choices between rent and food. Black workers struggle to access good jobs. Parents and students face schools that don’t always honor their needs, nor respect their identities. Loved ones lost to police violence leave behind families who deserve support, dignity, and justice. And while resources exist, they don’t always reach the people who need them most.
This is why we act. For years, our grassroots team of dedicated community members, leaders and advocates have been doing the work in Long Beach:
☺ During the pandemic, we developed the B-Well (Black Wellness) Collaborative to nurture healing and mental wellness, while demystifying and destigmatizing mental health in the Black community
🏠 Along with LiBRE, we created the city’s first Black Neighborhood Tenant Council to defend renters’ rights and educate Black renters about housing.
💪 We continue to guide Black families and community members in understanding policies and their personal power by helping them lifting their voices at school board meetings, City Council, and the new Police Oversight Commission
💝 We stand firm with families impacted by police violence, ensuring they feel seen, supported, resourced, and cared for
This year, with your help, we’re ready to grow even stronger. Together, we can:
1) Provide stipends for community canvassers — trusted neighbors who bring resources about jobs, housing, wellness, and safety directly to the people
2) Expand our policy education and organizing work, to help more residents engage with the community and decision-makers. Our growing Black Neighborhood Tenant Council is eager to make real change around housing justice in our city.
3) Deepen our wellness programs and walk with families impacted by systemic violence
Be part of this movement. Your gift isn’t just a donation — it’s a declaration that you believe in Black futures, community care, and collective power.
Every contribution is an act of love, hope, and liberation.
Let’s build the Long Beach we all deserve — together.
